About our location...
This is an ideal location as a base for touring the West Coast of Ireland. We are 15 minutes drive from Shannon International Airport and 10 minutes from the market town of Ennis.
We are situated on the verge of the beautiful, picturesque and interesting village of Quin and within walking distance of all village amenities including pubs, restaurants and historic monuments including Quin Abbey, the best preserved abbey in Ireland's Mid-West region!
The builders used the remains of an Anglo-Norman
Castle to build the Franciscan Abbey in the 15th century. Of special interest today
is the graceful tower and the beautiful cloisters. Opposite the friary is 13th century St.Finghin's church with
the remains of impressing windows.
Nearby Knappogue Castle is surrounded by a beautiful Victorian walled garden. Medieval dinners are held there, as in famous Bunratty Castle and Folk Park, just 10 mins. from Quin. The ancient home of the O’Brien clan, Dromoland Castle, now a five star hotel with a renowned Golf course, is only a five minute drive.
Only a few minutes driving brings you to Craggaunowen Prehistoric Park featuring a reconstructed Iron Age lake-dwelling as well as Ring Forts in a quiet woodland setting.
Ennis has picturesque streets with colourful shop fronts, the well preserved cloister ruins of Ennis Friary and Clare Abbey, the Glor Irish Music centre and the Clare Museum are all well worth a visit. A variety of traditional pubs provide traditional and contemporary evening entertainment
The many other sights of County Clare include the unusual Burren limestone area as well as the Cliffs of Moher and are both just 30 mins. away in Northwest Clare. The Loop Head Peninsula in the little known West Clare area has one of the most breath taking cliff sceneries of Ireland and is less than an hour drive from Ennis.
